Sveltia CMS Overview

While engineers are comfortable authoring Markdown inside IDEs and pushing changes via pull requests, subject matter experts (SMEs), product managers, and technical writers often require a clean graphical interface.

To bridge this gap without compromising our Docs-as-Code architecture, this site integrates Sveltia CMS—a lightning-fast, Git-backed content management system built with Svelte.

Unlike traditional enterprise CMS platforms (such as WordPress or Contentful) that require a hosted database, server infrastructure, and complex API layers, Sveltia operates entirely inside the browser as a static single-page application (SPA).

Zero Backend Required

There is no database to maintain or server to patch. The CMS communicates directly with the GitHub API via OAuth.

Direct-to-Git Commits

Every save, edit, or image upload is committed directly back to the GitHub repository as clean Markdown or MDX files.

Lightning Fast

Built with modern web standards and optimized for speed, rendering large documentation collections instantly.

WYSIWYG & Raw Editing

Contributors can toggle seamlessly between a clean rich-text preview interface and raw Markdown/MDX code.

When an SME logs into the CMS, the underlying workflow mirrors a professional software release cycle without exposing the user to git commands:

  1. Authentication The user logs in securely using their GitHub credentials via the Git Gateway / OAuth provider.
  2. Content Modification The user edits an existing guide, creates a new component specimen, or uploads an optimized image.
  3. Automated Branching & Commit When the user clicks “Publish,” Sveltia CMS automatically creates a dedicated patch branch, commits the file changes, and opens a Pull Request.
  4. CI/CD Validation GitHub Actions instantly runs our quality gates (Vale, Lychee, and Astro build checks) against the proposed changes.
